Jake Hazzard grew up in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland on a 15 acre property of rambling rainforest, creeks and waterfalls.  This spawned a love of all things plant life, and he eventually graduated with a bachelor degree in Australian Environmental Studies at Griffith University.

In 2001 Jake began working in revegetation projects and became involved in native seed collection and managing  native bushcare and coastcare nurseries.   In 2003 he began undertaking vegetation surveys and providing advice to property owners on their vegetation management strategies.

Countless encounters with nursery customers, combined with exposure to coastal landscapes and the stunning wallum environment, resulted in a growing passion for garden aesthetics and design.  Jake brings this passion to every project he is involved in.

“ Jake was exceptionally prompt, professional and extremely informative in assisting with a project that required immediate attention as possible soil erosion was imminent.  Stage 1 of 4000 sq metres of garden to design included a steep bank.  His immediate response, full explanation of appropriate plants and drawings were presented in requested time frame.  We were able to implement this prior our imminent absence for 7 weeks.  End result – we returned to a wonderful, established and growing bank of plants that are thriving.  We are now moving into stage 2 for which Jake drew up another set of blueprints that were extremely detailed, with full explanation of plants and easy to understand, with the ability to be very flexible.  This is going to be a “work in progress” for a number of months but I know I can call on Jake for any support or assistance at any time.  The design and forethought that Jake put in is a credit as he went out of his way to understand individual styles and plantings that appealed.  Sincere thanks for making an overwhelming project be manageable.”  Sue & Mal Leeming, Yaroomba

“After moving into our house in Marcus Beach Jake helped us plan and design our vision for our future garden and landscaping.  We found Jake extremely professional and knowledgeable and really was able to listen to what we wanted.  Not only have we now go a 5 year plan to assist with staging our garden but Jake also went to the next level with individual planting descriptions/pictures and how to care for long term management.  He has been very contactable regarding any follow up questions and provides us with referrals to assist that are trustworthy and legitimate.  I would highly recommend BrushBox Design + Ecology to anyone who is or wants to be involved in any landscaping project.  We had a wonderful experience making the whole process very achievable.”  Louise Meek & Luc Palin, Marcus Beach
